I did a research about the tradition of trousseau making in Extremadura, in southwestern Spain. The research is focused on the textiles teenagers and young women used to prepare by themselves and their family for their prospective marriage. I travelled to several towns in the region in order to interview women who had done this task during their youth. While looking and commenting on the textile pieces they still preserve and use, we discussed about how customs where before, what things have changed and what they miss.
As a result of the research, I did 100 drawings from details of bed linens, garments, table cloths and so on, and I wrote a 50-pages text gathering the information from the interviews and travels. All of it is contained in an artist book that you can purchase at my online shop.
The project was possible thanks to a production grant from the government of Extremadura (Junta de Extremadura) in 2023.
